Design Tips
Design Dilemma: "How do we get the most out of a small space? The den off of our kitchen is quite small and yet we use it daily."
Design Direction:
It is often assumed that in a small space, one should put small pieces of furniture and keep the walls nuetral and light, as to give it a bigger, more open feeling.
When working with smaller rooms, I choose to place fewer pieces, scaled a bit larger to provide impact and comfort. I have found the a bunch of small things make a smaller space feel cluttered and leave it feeling blah and without personality.
Without going dark, I like to paint the walls a medium hue of paint, which tends to draw people into the space and "bind" the design with fewer items in the room.
